Job Nguono Ochieng is a Kenyan footballer who plays as a forward and winger for Real Sociedad B in Spain and represents the Kenyan national team.
Early Life and Educational Background
Job Nguono Ochieng was born on January 17, 2003, in Nairobi, Kenya.
He grew up in a modest setting and began playing football on local pitches at a young age.
His talent was first noticed at Ligi Ndogo, a youth football academy in Nairobi known for nurturing promising players.
By the age of 12, Ochieng was already attracting attention for his fearless dribbling and attacking instincts.
Inspired by global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, and Kenyan icon Victor Wanyama, Job Ochieng dreamed of playing in Europe despite financial and logistical challenges.
In 2020, at just 17, community fundraising efforts enabled him to travel to Gran Canaria, Spain, where he joined Maspalomas CF.
However, his early days in Spain were difficult, after he was abandoned by an agency and left homeless.
Coaches and club officials at Maspalomas stepped in, offering him shelter and a chance to continue his football development.
Career
Ochieng’s professional career began in 2021, when he played for Maspalomas youth and senior teams, impressing his coaches and scouts with his pace, two-footed dribbling, and creativity.
In 2022, Job Nguono signed for Real Sociedad C, marking his entry into professional football in Spain.
Shortly after signing for Real Sociedad, Ochieng suffered a knee injury that delayed his debut. But he persevered, recovered, and eventually broke into the reserve team.
He made his debut on February 26, 2023, in a 1–0 victory over Alavés B.
His impressive performances earned him a promotion to Real Sociedad B, where he competed in Spain’s Primera Federación.
By 2024, Ochieng secured a loan move to SD Huesca in Segunda División, where he gained valuable experience at a higher competitive level.
In 2025, his hard work paid off when he received his first call-up to the Kenya national team (Harambee Stars), making his international debut and becoming one of the few Kenyan players active in European football.
He made his debut for Kenya in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier — coming on as a late substitute in a match against The Gambia and later earning his first start in a 5–0 victory over Seychelles.
