Charles Kamuren is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Baringo South Constituency.
He was first elected in a by-election in August 2018 and has been serving since then, affiliated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Before entering Parliament, Kamuren had a long career in education and labour unions.
Educational Background of Charles Kamuren
Charles Kamuren completed his primary education at Loboi Primary School from 1977 to 1983, followed by secondary education at Ng’ambo Secondary School between 1984 and 1987.
He went on to study at Thogoto Teachers’ College, earning his Primary Teachers’ Certificate from 1989 to 1991.
Later, he pursued specialised training at Kenyatta University, where he earned a Diploma in Control and Management of HIV from 2001 to 2002.
Continuing his academic journey, he completed a bachelor’s degree in leadership and management at St. Paul’s University, graduating between 2013 and 2016.
Career Background
Charles Kamuren began his professional career in education, serving as a Teacher with the Teachers’ Service Commission and advancing to Headteacher between 1995 and 2006.
During the same period, he was active in union leadership, holding roles as Branch Executive Committee Member (2001–2006) and later as Executive Secretary of KNUT (Kenya National Union of Teachers) from 2006 to 2016.

Transitioning to elective politics, Kamuren served as a Nominated MCA in the Baringo County Assembly from 2015 to 2017, before being elected Member of Parliament for Baringo South in an August 2018 by-election.

In Parliament, he served on the Parliamentary Broadcasting & Library Committee from 2018 to 2022 and was a member of the Departmental Committee on Sports, Culture & Tourism from 2018 to 2020.
