Activist Boniface Mwangi on Monday, October 28 issued three demands after he was released from Kamkunji Police Station, Nairobi.
In a statement, Mwangi said he will not relent fighting for what is right despite being arrested and issued three demands which he called upon the citizens to support him.
“The intimidation will not stop me. Moving forward, there are three issues that active citizens must focus on, “part of the statement read.
The outspoken activist made a strong demand for justice on behalf of the families of victims of police brutality during the protests against the Finance Bill 2024.
Boniface Mwangi issues demands after his release
Mwangi called for the prosecution of former Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome, as well as the field commanders on duty, whom he claims were responsible for the police officers involved in the tragic deaths of peaceful protesters.
He also urged the government to provide compensation for the victims of police brutality.
At the same time, the outspoken activist said the Cabinet Secretary for the Interior is not fit to hold public office because under his tenure a lot of atrocities have been committed.
“Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki isn’t fit to hold public office. Under his leadership, citizens have been abducted and murdered, and there has been a dramatic increase in femicides.

Promoting him to Deputy President after children were murdered is entrenching impunity and lawlessness,” Mwangi argued.
Furthermore, Mwangi urged the government to expedite the process of issuing citizens with Identification Cards (IDs), encouraging them to actively request these documents.
” You cannot deny or sell us our national identity cards. All Kenyans who have reached the age of 18 must be issued a voter’s card.
It’s unconstitutional and illegal to deny citizens ID cards. Demand IDs and voters cards,”the outspoken activist demanded.
Additionally, Mwangi urged President William Ruto to implement his Kenya Kwanza manifesto, adhere to the promises made to Kenyans during the campaigns, and disclose the audit of Kenya’s current debt.
Boniface released from Police Station after spending night
Earlier Mwangi was released from Kamukunji police station after he was picked up by unidentified people at his home in Machakos County.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vocal Africa, Hussein Khalid confirmed that Mwangi was released on Monday morning, October 28.

In a video posted on X, Boniface Mwangi was seen hugging his wife Hellen Njeri Mwangi after he was released from the station.
His wife was in the company of NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua together with Mwangi’s two sons and daughter.
According to Khalid, the outspoken activist was freed without any charges pressed against them.
