George Ruto, the youngest son of President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto, is quietly building a name for himself in Kenya’s transport industry, far from the traditional political route taken by some of his siblings.
Known for his low profile and entrepreneurial flair, George is the brains behind a growing fleet of luxury matatus and a multi-million-shilling bus that has caught the attention of the public.
On Friday, July 18, 2025, George unveiled a flashy new matatu dubbed Mood during a high-energy concert at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) that brought Nairobi CBD to a standstill.
The vehicle features custom-made bucket seats, each fitted with a cup holder and charging port.
It is also fully air-conditioned; a breath of fresh air compared to the stuffy and congested environment common in other matatus.
Other standout features include a modern push-to-start ignition system, solar power, and DJ decks installed right in the cockpit.

This latest addition joins Moneyfest, a premium matatu known for its entertainment-themed design another of George’s standout investments.
Launched in July 2024, Money Fest is fitted with 55-inch side television screens and six Pioneer Ts3004-D4 subwoofers to provide top-notch entertainment for passengers, among other accessories.
Unlike your typical matatu, its body, interior, and lighting have been modified to enhance its aesthetics and ensure passenger comfort.

While his drivers have stirred some controversy due to traffic violations, George has largely maintained a clean and focused image.
Despite his close ties to the country’s highest office, George has remained away from the political limelight, unlike his siblings Nick and Charlene.
Entry into Limelight
Instead, he made headlines for his fashion sense and striking resemblance to his father, especially during President Ruto’s inauguration in 2022, where he donned a navy-blue suit and yellow tie mirroring his father’s outfit.
George also became a viral sensation in 2018 after accompanying his father to Uganda, and again when a video surfaced showing a light-hearted exchange with the President over his afro hairstyle— a look he defended as a generational statement.
In 2023, he went viral after he delivered Ksh3 million in cash on behalf of his father to AIC Fellowship church in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
