The Office of the Attorney General (AG) and the Department of Justice has announced several job opportunities.
In a notice on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Office of the AG invited qualified applicants to apply for the following positions:
- Accountant II – 10 posts available
- Public Communication Officer II – 2 posts available
- Clerical Officer II – 10 posts available
Positions Available in the Office of the AG
Duties and Responsibilities of the Positions ]Advertised:
- Accountant II:
- Participate in compiling budget estimates and conducting periodic variance analyses to identify anomalies or irregular spending patterns.
- Process payment vouchers, verify claims and invoices, and ensure compliance with internal control protocols.
- Coordinate with the procurement office to manage financial aspects of purchasing, including commitments, disbursements, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing financial documents and explaining transactions during audits.
- Monitor budget allocations and ensure prudent use of financial resources according to the Public Finance Management Act and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain and update ledger books, petty cash books, and cash books.
- Assist in the computation and remittance of statutory deductions such as Pay As You Earn (PAYE), National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), and National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
2. Public Communication Officer II:
- Design and manage the department’s communication campaigns, focusing on public legal awareness, access to justice, and anti-corruption efforts.
- Oversee the department’s digital presence, including official websites and social media channels, ensuring timely updates and accurate content dissemination.
- Compile reports on public feedback and sentiment regarding the department’s initiatives and present this data for informed decision-making.
- Coordinate with other government agencies, legal institutions, and civil society stakeholders to align communication strategies and messages.

- Maintain an archive of media coverage, visual content, and communication tools for institutional memory and knowledge-sharing.
- Draft and distribute official press releases, speeches, and media advisories reflecting the department’s activities and positions.
- Organize and coordinate media coverage for government events, legal forums, conferences, and public participation initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with journalists and media outlets to foster positive press coverage.
3. Clerical Officer II:
Assist in preparing reports, forms, and other routine documentation for supervisors and senior officers.
- Monitor office inventory, prepare supply requisitions, and support logistical arrangements for meetings and conferences.
- Maintain records of incoming and outgoing goods, office stationery, and equipment.
- Carry out photocopying, scanning, and digitizing documents for internal circulation or archiving.

- Liaise with various departments within the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice to facilitate internal communication and information sharing.
- Support higher-level administrative officers with mail handling, tracking assignments, and managing workflow timelines.
