Kakamega County Announces Contract Jobs with Monthly Salary of Up to Ksh70,000

The County Government Of Kakamega Has 15 Vacant Positions For Senior Marshals Who Are To Serve For One Year, Earning Ksh 20,000 Per Month.

The County Government of Kakamega has announced multiple vacancies under the County Youth Service and Women Empowerment Program.

Positions open for application include senior program officers, program officers, sub-county coordinators, county marshals, accounts assistants, and ICT officers, with 109 open vacancies to fill.

Salary for the successful applicant will vary depending on the position applied for, with the highest earning up to KSh 70,000.

Kakamega County has invited qualified applicants to fill the positions as part of the beneficiary program.

“The County Government of Kakamega invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the positions below as part of the beneficiaries of the Program,” read the job advertisement from the county offices of Kakamega.

2 Senior Program Officers Vacant Posts

Applicants applying for the senior program officer position will receive the highest consolidated monthly stipend of KSh 70,000.

The senior program officer will serve a one-year term per the contract and assist the director and coordinate programs in the service to ensure effective implementation.

Further, the senior program officer will be in charge of service sports and co-curricular activities as well as emergency responses.

To apply for the position, the applicant should have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution, a certificate in Computer Application, and at least 5 years of proven work experience.

Alternatively, the applicant can provide a Diploma in management or administration, or a relevant qualification, a certificate in Computer Application, and proven work experience of five years.

Programme Officers

Successful applicants for the 9 vacant program officer positions who will be responsible for evaluating and guiding service members will receive a monthly consolidated stipend of KSh 24,000.

Applicants will be required to have a KCSE certificate with a mean grade of C- or its approved equivalent.

In addition, applicants will provide a certificate in Human Resource Management, Business Administration (KATC), Supply Chain Management, Records Management, or any other relevant field.

Furthermore, they must know how to use computer applications.

Program Sub-County Coordinators

26 posts are open for the program sub-county coordinators set to receive KSh 50,000 monthly as they perform the role of planning and coordinating programs in sub-counties.

Further, the successful candidates will oversee the development of program deliverables and monitor action plans and processes.

However, unlike the other positions, applicants applying for the 26 posts must be residents of Kakamega County.

Additionally, they must demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with clients, as well as an innovative mindset, to qualify for the position.

County Senior Marshall

The County government of Kakamega has 15 vacant positions for senior marshals who are to serve for one year, earning KSh 20,000 per month.

The senior marshals will oversee the activities of the county marshals, enforce revenue collection, and perform lawful, related duties assigned by supervisors.

Potential candidates should also be residents of the county, have a valid passport or ID, a KCPE certificate, good communication skills, and no previous criminal conviction.

Successful candidates will undergo paramilitary training.

Kakamega County Marshal

55 positions for county marshals are currently open for applications for a one-year contract with a monthly stipend set at KSH 15,201.

The county marshal will conduct regular patrols in the parking areas and assist with the enforcement of revenue collection.

Like the senior county marshals, the county marshals should also be residents of the county, have a valid identification document, a KCPE certificate, and be medically fit.

Successful candidates will also undergo paramilitary training.

Accounts Assistant

One post for the account assistant position is open, with a monthly stipend of KSh 30,000 and a 1-year contract.

The account assistant will be responsible for verifying vouchers and commitment documents, and posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cash books.

In addition, the candidates shall prepare monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual financial reports.

To apply for the position, the applicant should hold a Diploma in Accounting and Finance or have passed Part II of the Certified Public Accountants Examination.

A minimum of 2 years of work experience as an accounts assistant and a certificate in computer applications are required.

Programme ICT Officers

A single post for a program ICT officer is open for a one-year work contract and a monthly stipend of KSh 50,000.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and seizing opportunities to enhance updated software and systems.

Additionally, the officer will conduct routine evaluations of networks and data security and assist in the implementation of computer systems.

Requirements
  • A diploma in computer science, electrical and electronic engineering, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • KSCE mean grade C (plain) with at least a C- in mathematics and English/Kiswahili.
  • Experience leading and managing large IT infrastructure across various technologies.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network, and data storage systems.
How to Apply 

According to the notice, “Interested and qualified persons are invited to make their applications and send to the undersigned or hand delivered to the Director County Youth Service and Women Empowerment Programme office at Bukhungu Stadium on or before Monday 11th May, 2026 at 4.00 P.M.”

During interviews, shortlisted candidates will be required to produce their original National Identity Card and Academic Certificates.

Further, any canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.

Qualified candidates should submit their applications or hand-deliver them to the Director, County Youth Service and Women Empowerment Program office at Bukhungu Stadium.
