Ministry of Transport Opens 139 Jobs with Monthly Salary of Up to Ksh 103,440

The State Department for Roads, under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, has announced 139 vacancies for various engineering, training, and technical positions.

In a notice dated June 9, the Ministry of Roads invited qualified persons to apply for the listed opportunities.

“Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown below. The details of the posts and mode of application can be accessed on the Commission’s website www.publicservice.go.ke,” the statement read in part.

The Ministry of Roads recruitment includes both promotional and entry-level opportunities for qualified candidates.

According to the issued notice, interested and qualified persons are requested to make their applications ONLINE through the Public Service Commission website: www.publicservice.go.ke or jobs portal: www.psckjobs.go.ke not later than 30th June, 2026 at 5.00 PM (EAT).

“Only shortlisted and successful candidates will be contacted; and shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their academic and professional certificates during interviews,” the ministry noted.

Salaries and Requirements

According to the Ministry of Roads, applicants for the advertised vacancies must meet the following requirements and will be remunerated under the salary scales outlined below;

Senior Engineer Materials (14 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or civil and Structural Engineering, registration as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya, management course certificate, computer skills, and at least six years of relevant experience.

Senior Lecturer – KIHBT (11 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, geospatial engineering or related fields, registration with a relevant professional body, Training of Trainers (TOT) qualification, management course certificate, computer proficiency, and at least six years of relevant experience.

Principal Instructor – KIHBT (15 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Diploma or Technician II and III qualification in engineering, surveying, architecture or related fields, TOT certificate, KETRB registration or equivalent professional registration, supervisory skills certificate, computer proficiency, and at least 12 years of relevant experience.

Superintending Geologist (1 Post)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Registration with the Geologists Registration Board of Kenya, management course certificate, and experience in hydrogeological, geophysical and geotechnical projects.

Chief Physicist (7 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in physics or related field, management course certificate, at least three years’ experience as a Senior Physicist or equivalent and demonstrated professional competence.

Principal Engineering Technician – Materials (Laboratory) (14 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Diploma in Building, Civil Engineering or Building Technology, KETRB registration and practicing license, supervisory skills certificate, computer proficiency, and at least 12 years of relevant experience.

Principal Engineering Technician (Automotive) (2 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Diploma or Technician Part III in Automotive Engineering, KETRB registration and practicing license, valid driving license, supervisory skills certificate, computer proficiency, and at least 12 years of relevant experience.

Principal Engineering Technician (Mechanical) (2 Posts)

Salary: KSh 59,010 – 103,440 per month.
Requirements: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, KETRB registration, supervisory skills certificate, computer proficiency, and at least 12 years of relevant experience.

Senior Instructor – KIHBT (16 Posts)

Salary: KSh 47,900 – 67,750 per month.
Requirements: Diploma or Technician II and III qualification in relevant technical fields, TOT certificate, KETRB or professional registration, computer proficiency, and at least nine years of relevant experience.

Senior Engineering Technician (Automotive) (10 Posts)

Salary: KSh 47,900 – 67,750 per month.
Requirements: Diploma or Technician Part III in Automotive Engineering, KETRB registration, valid driving licence, computer proficiency, and at least nine years of relevant experience.

Senior Engineering Technician (Plant) (7 Posts)

Salary: KSh 47,900 – 67,750 per month.
Requirements: Relevant plant engineering qualifications and experience in maintenance, inspection and operation of plant and equipment.

Senior Charge Hand (Plumbing) (3 Posts)

Salary: KSh 43,200 – 59,010 per month.
Requirements: Relevant plumbing trade qualifications, experience in building maintenance and supervision, plus computer proficiency. (Terms fall under CSG 10 positions.)

Senior Charge Hand (Carpentry & Joinery) (3 Posts)

Salary: KSh 43,200 – 59,010 per month.
Requirements: Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery or Artisan Certificate, computer proficiency, and at least nine years of relevant experience.

Senior Charge Hand (Motor Vehicle Mechanic) (11 Posts)

Salary: KSh 43,200 – 59,010 per month.
Requirements: Craft or Artisan Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, valid driving licence, computer proficiency, and between nine and 12 years of relevant experience.

Engineering Technician Electrical (1 Post)

Salary: KSh 43,200 – 59,010 per month.
Requirements: Diploma or Technician Part III qualification in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering and at least three years’ experience in a comparable position.

Engineering Technician (Automotive) I (3 Posts)

Salary: KSh 43,200 – 59,010 per month.
Requirements: Diploma in Automotive or Mechatronic Engineering or Technician Part III qualification, valid driving licence, KETRB registration, computer proficiency, and at least six years of experience.

Engineering Technician Mechanical I (6 Posts)

Salary: KSh 43,200 – 59,010 per month.
Requirements: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, KETRB registration, computer proficiency, and at least six years of relevant experience.

Driver Instructor III (7 Posts)

Salary: CSG 13 scale (salary not indicated in the advert excerpt).
Requirements: Craft Certificate in Automotive, driver’s suitability test, valid driving license (Classes B, C1 and C). Instructor training, KETRB registration and First Aid certification are added advantages.

Plant Operator Instructor III (8 Posts)

Salary: CSG 13 scale (salary not indicated in the advert excerpt).
Requirements: Craft Certificate in Plant Mechanics or Plant Construction, plant operator suitability test, valid driving license endorsed for at least two machines, with instructor training, KETRB registration and First Aid certification considered an advantage.
