The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced the recruitment of Technical Instructors and Lecturers scheduled to take place in September 2025.
NYS has invited applications for 130 vacancies for Technical Instructors III in 29 different fields.
Fields with one opening include Accounting, Farm Management, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Sales and Marketing.
NYS has also declared two vacancies for instructors in Irrigation and Drainage Technology, Horticulture, Catering and Accommodation, Secretarial Studies, Supply Chain Management, Carpentry and Joinery, Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Hair dressing and beauty Therapy (Cosmetology) and Plant and Services Engineering.
There are three job opportunities for instructors in Agriculture Engineering and Fashion Design.
The Service has also announced four vacancies for instructors in Food and Beverage, Mechanical Engineering (plant), and Business Management.
NYS seeks to recruit six technical instructors in General Agriculture and Animal Health and Production.
There are 8 vacancies for instructors in Building and Construction, Electrical Engineering, and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Other vacancies include Plumbing (9), Information Communication Technology (10), and Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication and Metalogy (11).
There are 22 vacancies for instructors in Automotive Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical),
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Accounting; Agriculture; Irrigation and Drainage Technology, Animal Health and Production: Horticulture; Farm Management; Agricultural Engi-neering: Automotive Engineering; Hair dressing and beauty therapy (cosmetology); Building and Construction; Catering and Accommodation; Electrical Engineering; Entrepreneurship; Fashion design; Food and Beverage; Information Communication Technology; Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering (Plant); Secretarial studies Supply chain management and Human Resource management; Business Management; Plumbing: Carpentry and Joinery, Nutrition and Dietetics; Sales and Marketing; Plant and Services Engineering; Mechanical Engineering (Fabrication and Metalogy), Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning.
Other Requirements & Salary Scale
They must also have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognised institution.
iii) NYS Discharge Certificate is an added advantage.
Candidates must also fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
Successful candidates will receive a monthly salary of between Ksh28,620 and Ksh37,100.
They will have the Social Health Authority (SHA) medical cover.
The house, leave, and commuter allowances will be as they exist in the civil service.

NYS Announces Lecturer Vacancies
Additionally, NYS has announced 13 lecturer II positions in 8 different fields.
This includes one vacancy in Languages-French, Secretarial Studies, and Entrepreneurship.
There are two openings for lecturers in the following fields: Business Management, Hospitality Management, Commerce (Human Resource Management), Fashion and Textile Design, and Supply Chain Management.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Arts (Languages- French); Business Management; Arts (Secretarial Studies); Science in Entrepreneurship; Arts in Hospitality Management; Commerce (Human Resource Management); Science (Fashion and Textile Design and Supply Chain Management.
They must also have a Certificate in Computer and fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
Successful candidates will earn from Ksh34,420 to Ksh46,120.
Other employment conditions are similar to the ones for Technical Instructor III.
Lecturer I Positions
Further, NYS has advertised 38 vacancies for lecturer I positions in 22 fields.
NYS seeks to hire one lecturer in the following: Agricultural Economics, Animal Health Science, Construction Plant, Civil & Structural Engineering, Quantity Survey, Catering and Hotel Management, Food Nutrition and Dietetics, and Commerce Marketing.
There are two opportunities for Mathematics and Computing, Agriculture, Commerce (Finance and Accounting), Economics, Statistics, Information Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Architecture, and Industrial Plant Engineering.
The Service has three vacancies for lecturers in the following fields: Information Communication Technology, Automotive Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction, Horticulture, and Agricultural Engineering.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Commerce (Finance and Accounting): CPA (K): Science (Information Communication Technology): Mathematics and Computing: Library and Inform tion Science; Science (Agriculture): Agricultural Economics: Animal Health Science: Science/Education in Construction Plant: Science/Engineering or Education (aeronautical Engineering); Science or Education (Architecture); Science or Education (Automotive Engineering); Science or Education (Civil & Structural Engineering); Science or Education (Electrical & Electronics); Science or Education (Mechanical) and Science or Education (Quantity Survey); Technology in Building Construction, Catering and Hotel Management; Science in Food nutrition and dietetics; Commerce (Marketing); Science/Technology in Industrial Plant Engineering; Science in Horticulture.
They must also meet the other requirements stated in the lecturer II position.

Applicants who are interested and meet the above requirements should complete the Application for Employment Form-PSC2 (Revised 2016) and submit it in a sealed envelope marked with the title of the position applied for.
The application should be accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic certificates, testimonials, and a copy of the national identity card or passport.
