NYS Announces 215 Job Opportunities: Qualifications & How to Apply

The National Youth Service (NYS) has advertised 215 job opportunities for its graduates.

In an advert on Saturday, September 21, NYS announced 15 domestic linkages for drivers and tuktuk riders, and another 200 for data entry clerks.

For the drivers and riders, NYS said the client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial products, and successful candidates will be engaged in their transport and logistics department.

The Service announced 10 openings for the position of a driver, whose duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Driving the company’s vehicles to destinations as authorized by the management.
  • Performing daily inspection of the assigned vehicle to ensure that it is clean inside and outside, seatbelts are operational, and the engine, radiator, brake, clutch, and battery fluids are at recommended levels, ensuring the vehicle is in good running condition.
  • Ensuring that vehicle tools (fire extinguisher, first aid kit, jack) and spare tire are in operational condition.
  • Performing minor preventive maintenance and safety checks daily and informing the supervisor in case of discrepancies.
  • Ensuring the vehicle displays the following mandatory stickers: road license, T.L.B, P.S.V., insurance, inspection, etc.
  • Reporting any defect or suspected defect and having it repaired after authorization by management.
  • Maintaining a work ticket book that should be signed and updated in all relevant columns.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is securely parked in the authorized parking area during and after working hours.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements for Drivers
Interested candidates must be 30 years and above, NYS graduates, effective communicators (both verbally and in writing), have strong interpersonal skills, and be attentive to detail.

They must also have a valid driving license, a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police, and at least three (3) years of manual car driving experience in an organization.

First aid and mechanical training will be an added advantage.

NYS Announces 5 Opportunities for Tukutuk Riders 

The riders will deliver products regularly according to a delivery plan and set route to a specific set of customers within the agreed window of time.

They will ensure goods are delivered on time to vendors and that the vehicle is kept in good condition with timely servicing.

Qualifications & Requirements for Tuktuk Riders
Interested applicants must be 27 years and above, NYS graduates, and competent tukutuk riders with a minimum of 3 years of experience in delivery.

They must have a valid Driving License (Class G & F) and a Certificate of Good Conduct or a receipt showing a recent application.

Data Entry Clerks

In addition, NYS stated that an IT company operating in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda has vacant positions for data entry clerks specifically for NYS graduates.

Qualifications & Requirements
Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • National Youth Service Graduate
  • 18-27 years of age
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Diploma/Certificate in Information Technology or any business-related course with strong skills in data entry/computer operations
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data entry software
  • Previous experience in data entry or digitization is an added advantage
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions

After recruitment and selection, the chosen candidates will be required to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct, sign a contract outlining the terms and conditions of their employment, and sign a non-disclosure agreement to ensure confidentiality and protection of sensitive information.
