Chaos erupted at a prayer meeting in Machakos county after two rivals’ political camps clashed on Friday.
The meeting was organized by the clergy from Machakos county
Trouble started when section of youths unsuccessfully attempted to eject CCU Machakos gubernatorial candidate Nzioka Waita from the meeting.
The youth were supporters of Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka were inside the Machakos Golf club when the fracas erupted meters away.
Police officers whisked Waita out of the chaos and escorted him to awaiting car.
Waita later joined the meeting together with Raila after police contained the fracas
The clergy latter claimed that it was only Ndeti they had invited to the meeting.
Wavinya and Waita are in a bitter battle for the Machakos governorship
Wiper party has been pushing Waita to step down in favour of Wavinya in the race to succeed Alfred Mutua
Waita has however stuck his guns out and vowed to go all the way to the ballot.
Both Wavinya and Waita are in the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya alliance.
The two will be battling it out with UDA chairman Johnstone Muthama in the gubernatorial contest
Maendeleo Chap Chap party candidate Francis Maliti withdrew from the race in support of Wavinya.
Maliti’s running mate joined the Waita camp
