The Azimio coalition has clarified that it will lead protests on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from next week.
In a press release on Friday, July 14, the opposition announced that the decision was due to public demand.
“Following an over whelming requests from all sectors of the Kenyan Public for the need to intensify these demonstrations,” released Azimio La Umoja.
Moving forward, the peaceful protests will now be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week in line with the public to include three days of activity. Let’s meet on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,” read the statement.
This was a departure from a communication on Thursday, July 13, by the Orange Democratic Party Secretary General, Senator Edwin Sifuna.

Leaders condemn protests
Kenya Kwanza leaders have slammed the opposition for organizing the protests that are disrupting the economic lives of Kenyans.
“You can see the hand of the sponsor in the activation and mobilization of Mungiki gangs yesterday.
If you speak to residents of Kitengela and Mlolongo they will tell you of mobilized gangs of the Mungiki, and the sponsor of head of opposition, Raila Odinga has been the commander of that gang for years known by Kenyans,” claimed the Majority Leader in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah.
At the same time, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki warned that those who took part in the destruction of property will face the law.
Kindiki announced that police had arrested several people, including a politician, as investigations into the demos continue.
Detectives pounced on former Governor of Kakamega county, Wycliffe Oparanya, before freeing him on Thursday.
“You are sponsoring anarchy with your sponsor and handshake brother, so that you can enslave this country. I want to promise that you will not succeed,” said Ruto.
