The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak has claimed receiving threatening calls from politicians university degrees are under investigation.
“This is where we have reached in this country, we have crooks who are now aggressive fighting the system, ’he said.
He added “You have fake academic papers, and you have the guts to call the CEO of EACC,I have been called,” Mbarak said.
Mbarak lashed at politicians for intimidating independent institutions with the quest of circumventing the law
He said such moves can lead to the weakening of state institutions.
“Here in this country, we have people with fake papers, and they have the guts to come and abuse the institutions, chest thumping saying they have degrees. How can you have a degree when you don’t know your classmates?” Mbarak posed.
“People now are taking advantage of the legal systems and that is why we say we should not give up. We should support IEBC, EACC and judiciary as well as the citizens,” the EACC CEO said.
