Andrew Mwadime is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Governor of Taita Taveta County, elected in August 2022 as an independent candidate.
Born on April 6, 1964, in Chawia, Taita Taveta County, Mwadime has had a diverse career, including serving as a Member of Parliament for Mwatate Constituency from 2013 to 2022.
He is affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

Andrew Mwadime began his formal education at Chawia Primary School, followed by Frere Town Primary School, where he completed his Certificate of Primary Education.
Mwadime then proceeded to Allidina Visram High School in Mombasa for his O-Level studies and completed his A-Levels at Kenyatta High School in Taita.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Kenyatta University, graduating in 1990.
Later, he studied at Mombasa Polytechnic and obtained a Diploma in Marketing in 2001.
Career
Andrew Mwadime began his professional career as a teacher and later served as a deputy head teacher within the Teachers Service Commission.
He transitioned into banking, becoming a graduate trainee at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), then rising to Head of Card Business in Mombasa, before being appointed Head of Card Business in Tanzania.
By 2010, he was leading KCB’s card subsidiaries.
He entered elective politics in 2013 when he won the parliamentary seat for Mwatate Constituency on an ODM ticket.
He was re-elected in 2017, serving two terms in total, during which he participated in parliamentary committees such as Public Accounts, Pensions, Parliamentary Powers and Privileges, and the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.

In April 2022, after briefly aligning with the Communist Party of Kenya, he stepped aside from the party to run as an independent candidate for the governorship of Taita-Taveta County.
In August 2022, he won the gubernatorial seat as an independent, defeating the incumbent.
He was officially sworn in as the third governor of the county on 25 August 2022.
