Biography
Cleophas Malala is the former Secretary General (SG) of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the former senator for Kakamega County.

Malala completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education at Friends High School Kamusinga before advancing to USIU for his bachelor’s degree.
Life before Politics
Cleophas is a former high school teacher and an award-winning playwright. He scripted and directed a controversial play Shackles of Doom in 2003 which landed Butere girls in trouble.
The lawmaker ventured into politics and was elected MCA of Mahiakalo ward in Kakamega County in 2013. In 2017, he ran for the Kakamega senatorial position which he won.
Malala attributed his success as an MCA to his role as a vigilant advocate for the people, consistently prioritizing their welfare.
Political Career and Key Achievements
The Friends Kamusinga School alumni started his political career back in 2013 when he vied to become a Member of County Assembly (MCA).
Cleophas won the elections to become the Mahiakalo ward in Kakamega for four years up until 2017 when he advanced for vie for the senator position still in Kakamega country.
The ANC party member won the elections with the support of the majority of the population and entered Parliament as a senator in 2017.
In addition to becoming a senator, Cleophas Malala was also appointed to be the Deputy minority leader.
However, he was ousted in March 2021 and replaced by Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo. The reasons for this ousting were not clearly stated but word has it that the position was recalled because of gross misconduct.
It would be important to note that the party Senator Malala belongs to, Amani National Congress (ANC), is part of the National Super Alliance (NASA)
