OCCUPATION | POLITICIAN |
Feisal Bader Abdalla is a Kenyan politician and is currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Msambweni Constituency, elected under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Early life and educational background
Feisal hails from Gazi village and is a member of the distinguished Dori family, a family well known in the Msambweni region.
His grandfather was a bus driver for the once well-known KBS and Coast Bus services, a detail that underscores the family’s modest beginnings despite their prominence in the coastal region.
Bader attended Gazi Primary School, followed by Msambweni Secondary School.
He then pursued a Diploma in Business Administration at Mombasa Aviation Training College in 2006 to 2007.
Career
Feisal Bader’s entry into politics came through his close association with his late uncle, Suleiman Dori, who served as the area’s Member of Parliament.
Between 2013 and 2019, Bader worked as Dori’s personal assistant, gaining first-hand experience in constituency management and national politics.
Feisal Abdalla links this apprenticeship as the reason that sharpened his political instincts, but also earned him visibility among local residents, which enabled him to win the election.
ODM Escape
When Dori passed away in 2020, Msambweni Constituency was left without a representative.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) initially appeared to be his natural political home, but the party overlooked him when selecting a candidate for the by-election, favoring Omar Boga.
Feeling sidelined despite earlier assurances that opinion polls would guide the choice, Bader opted to contest as an independent candidate.
His decision drew the attention and eventual support of Deputy President William Ruto and other national leaders, giving his campaign fresh momentum.
Against expectations, Bader won decisively with over 15,251 votes, defeating ODM’s Omar Boga who garnered 10,444 votes.
