Joseph Gitari Gachoki is the current Member of Parliament for Kirinyaga Central Constituency.
He first gained national attention after winning the February 2011 by-election under the Party of National Unity (PNU).
He retained his seat in 2013 on a The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket but lost in 2017. He made a strong comeback in 2022, reclaiming his place as the area MP.

Career information
Joseph Gitari started his career in 1998 as the Chief Surveyor of GEO Acre Surveys Ltd.
Gitari’s political journey began in 2011. From 2018, Joseph Gitari was appointed the CEO of GEO Acre Surveys Ltd, a position he held until 2022 when he was elected again as the Kirinyaga Central MP.
In June 2024, he petitioned Parliament to pass the Land (Amendment) Bill 2024, seeking tighter controls on companies involved in land sales to prevent fraud targeting innocent Kenyans. His background in land survey has informed his credibility in these matters.
Later in October 2024, he launched a hygiene and sanitation programme by distributing 10,000-litre water tanks to 27 secondary schools in Kirinyaga Central.
In February 2025, Gitari led a peaceful occupation of Kerugoya Police Station, demanding urgent action on rising insecurity.
Additionally, in May 2025, he partnered with former government administrators to supervise the construction of Ngaru Market, under the NG-CDF.
