Mpuru Aburi is a Kenyan politician and a member of parliament of Tigania East Constituency in Meru County.
He was born on March 1, 1962, in Tigania, Meru County.
In the 2022 general election, he was the only candidate from his party, the National Ordinary People Empowerment Union (NOPEU), who was elected to the National Assembly, representing his constituency.
He also served in the 11th parliament on an ODM Party ticket in March 2013 before being re-elected in 2022.
Educational background of Mpuru Aburi
In 1967, Lawrence Aburi joined Mutewa Primary School, where he sat for his Certificate of Primary Education in the year 1974.
From 1975 to 1979, he joined Bunkote Training School in Uganda, where he obtained his East African Certificate of Education.
He later joined Kampala Grammar S.S from 1979 to 1991, where he got his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.
Career life
In 1992, Mpuru Aburi vied for the local Mikinduri Councillorās seat and won on a Ford Kenya ticket in the then DP zone.
10 years on- in 2002, Lawrence Aburi worked with Lamala Limited, and later in 2007, he joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as the Chairman for Meru County.
From 2013 to 2017, he served in the Parliamentary Service Commission as a member of parliament.
The same year, Lawrence Aburi served as a member of the Energy, Lands, Information and Communication, Innovation and Technology Committee
After his first term in parliament, Lawrence AburiĀ joined the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), where he served from 2017 to 2022.

Mpuru Aburi is the son of Aburi Naiture, a community leader who had three wives. Aburi was the only child of his mother. His father died when he was only three years old.
He is married to Agnes Kajuju, with whom he has three children.

As of April 2016, Aburi owned Bunyala Timber in Nairobi and had invested millions in Thiiri FM, a community radio station based in Meru town.
He owned 11 acres of miraa and was also into the bitumen business in South Sudan.
