Rose Museo Mumo is a Kenyan politician and the County Woman Representative for Makueni under the Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya.
Educational background
Rose Mumo Museo’s journey in formal education began at Mary Cliff Primary School in Mombasa, where she obtained her Certificate of Primary Education (CPE), studying from 1968 to 1974.
She continued her secondary schooling at H. H. Aga Khan High School, Mombasa, earning her ‘O’-Level Certificate between 1975 and 1978.
In 1979, she enrolled at Southon’s Secretarial College, where she completed advanced secretarial training (Pitman Certificate) in 1980.
Rose Museo later pursued formal diplomas, completing a Diploma in Social Work and Community Development from the Africa Regional Counselling and Training Institute in 2009, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Kenya Methodist University from 2014 to 2022.
Career
Professional career
Rose Museo began her professional career in 1982 at Action Aid Kenya, where she served as a Programme Officer for two decades till 2002, working with diverse communities in Kitui, Mutomo, Isiolo, Wamba, Maralal, and Samburu.
In 2002, Museo took on the role of Administrator at the Makueni Paralegal Coordinating Agency (MAPACA), offering community paralegal support, especially in matters of women’s rights and disputes till 2003.
She rose become Director of the Children and Women Department for the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Central Kenya Conference in 2005, a role she held till 2012.

In 2007, Museo was involved in a tragic road accident that left her with a broken leg. While preparing for surgery in India in 2011, over 600 community members gathered to pray for her recovery and urged her to vie for the County Women Representative seat.
She accepted the call and transitioned into politics.
Political career
Rose Museo was elected as the County Women Representative for Makueni in 2013 under the Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya.
She has held this position since then, serving in the 11th, 12th, and 13th Parliaments.
In the 11th Parliament, she served on the Departmental Committee on Labour & Social Welfare and the National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities Committee.
In the 12th Parliament, she continued on those committees and added roles on the Members’ Service & Facilities Committee and the Committee on Implementation.
Community Programming & Advocacy
Rose Museo has founded UKAWONE (Ukambani Women Needs Organization), which delivers subsidized water tanks to women groups across all 30 wards in Makueni County, empowering them through affordable access to water-harvesting technology.
Under her leadership, she has driven programs for education bursaries, support for girls returning to school (Second Chance Program), and assistance to survivors of gender-based violence.
