Kenyan media big-wig Caroline Mutoko has defended Musician Akothee following the cancellation of her visit to Ng’iya girls.
On Wednesday, August 9, Caroline Mutoko released a video telling parents that they should not tie down Akothee’s brand to be a role model to young people.
Furthermore, she said that it is not the role of celebrities to raise children and act as mentors to them, adding that it is the duty of the parents to expose their kids to people they should look up to.
“Britney Spears once said that it is not their work to raise their children, it is not Akothee’s job either,” Mutoko stated.
“Your job is to do what our mothers did, point out those are not portraying good manners and tell your kids not to look up to them.” She added.
The media personality opined that people need to let go of the mentality that public figures must act in a certain way to appease their beliefs.
Caroline Mutoko who is a women rights defender went ahead to praise Akothee and encouraged her to keep doing what she does.

“Akothee keep doing what you do. I love your style on Instagram,” Mutoko said.
However, Mutoko admitted to not knowing any of her music or attending her concert, but she was open to having coffee out with her.
“I don’t know any of your music and haven’t been to any of your concerts and because I can’t sing along to your music I might never come to any, but if you ever ask me out for tea, I will come happily,” the women rights defender said.
Consequently, she went ahead to state that Akothee’s music and brand marketing does not target young people.
“Which young person in Kenya listens to Akothee’s music? She does not write music for young people,” Carolyne posed.
“Respect the rules of life, stop chasing wants and chase basic needs, food, shelter-accommodation, medical and education which I don’t even have,” Akothee retorted in a video she is seeing plucking vegetables.
