Kenyan Instagrammer Brendalicious, whose real name was Brenda Ochola, passed away in Malaysia on April 25, 2023. Her death sparked rumors that she was a drug trafficker and had died from ingesting drugs that had burst into her stomach.
However, her family has come forward to defend her. In a statement on her sister Melissa Ochola’s Instagram account, the family denied the rumors that Brenda was involved in drug trafficking. They stated that Brenda had fallen ill and was admitted to Hospital Kuala Lumpur on April 15, 2023.

She was hospitalized for medical care, but her condition worsened, and she eventually required the assistance of a ventilator to help with her breathing. Despite the efforts of the doctors, her condition never improved.

The family also clarified that Brenda was not in a coma or on life support, as previously alleged. Brenda’s cause of death was Mycoplasma Pneumonia Septicemia, which led to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy with multiple organ failures.
The rumors circulating about Brenda’s death have been widely criticized by Kenyans, who condemned the fast-lane lifestyle. The family’s statement seeks to restate these rumors and honor Brenda’s memory. Brenda was a well-known influencer on Instagram, and her followers and loved ones have deeply felt her passing.
