Former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has revealed details of his arrest which occurred on Sunday, June 30.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Keter was arrested by officers from the National Police Service (NPS) on charges of conspiracy to traffic firearms and incitement to violence.
“Contrary to the misinformation circulating on social media on alleged abduction of Hon Alfred Keter by unknown men, this is to confirm that Hon Keter was arrested earlier today by NPS Officers for Conspiracy to Traffic Firearms and Incitement to Violence,” DCI said in a statement.
However, speaking at a press conference on July 1, Keter alleged that his arrest was motivated by his outspokenness on issues concerning many Kenyans, such as the Finance Bill, cost of living, and unfulfilled government promises under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Keter further disclosed that the police officers questioned him about his association with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and current Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
