Members of parliament (MPs) were forced to take cover for two hours, as the anti-finance bill protesters invaded Parliament Buildings on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024.
MPS trapped inside the chamber were caught unawares as they sought for safety as protesters closed in on them.

The legislators rushed towards parliament’s emergency exit. Reports indicated that some fainted, while others were overwhelmed as parliamentary Sergeant at Arms worked hard to save the lawmakers from irate demonstrators who were baying for their blood.
Close shave for MPs at Parliament
The anti-finance bill protesters entered Parliament buildings through the MP’s sitting section minutes after the controversial finance bill 2024 sailed through the August’s house.

Consequently, basement 2 and basement 1 served as hideout bankers for MPS who were visibly shocked by the unprecedented invasion.
Vehicles belonging to members of parliament were driven to safety in the basement area moments before the milee.

At the same time, legislators trapped inside the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) offices were evacuated by helicopters.
A chopper was seen landing at the KICC’s helipad before MPs boarded.
The extent of damage caused on and within parliament buildings is yet to be revealed but, footage showed a messy of aftermath.

Moreover, protesters across the country targeted property of lawmakers among them the National assembly Majority leader, Kimani Ichung’wah’s office, Molo MP Kimani Kuria’s home and Oscar Sudi’s businesses.
There also reports that Jonh Kiarie’s office in Dagoretti South was also torched.
Similarly, the irate mob burned Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja’s office.
