Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Nyanza region presidential campaign team co-chaired by the ODM national chairman John Mbadi and Kisii county Governor James Ongwae called for their political affiliate parties to allow zoning to ensure they capture more seats in the region.
Moreover, the two legislators argued that sibling rivalries may cost the Azimio alliance seats in their stronghold come August 9, polls. According to the Azimio leaders, Kenya Kwanza coalition may win seats in some parts of Nyanza if zoning is not done.
Some of the counties mentioned where Azimio siblings may lose seats due to their completion include; Kisii and Nyamira counties.
In addition, Mbadi reported that they have begun talks with leaders whose political parties are allied to Azimio and have fielded aspirants in Nyanza region to urge their nominees to step down in favor of ODM candidates.

Mbadi further reported that, they have a committee in place to address the zoning issue so as to strengthen Raila Odinga’s popularity. He then added that Nyanza being ODM stronghold should be painted orange.
“We want a 100 percent voter turnout and support for Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga starting with Nyanza counties of Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira.
Likewise, the co-chairmen while speaking in Homa Bay town on Sunday, June 26 pointed out Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya where aspirants for other political parties should step down in favor of their ODM counterparts.
Moreover, the ODM national chairman stated that they plan to involve dialogue and consensus during the process as opposed to using force.
“We want ODM to stamp its authority in Luo Nyanza counties without any element of dictatorship. This will ensure we achieve six-piece voting” he said.
Furthermore, governor Ongwae said the team will make sure Raila gets landslide votes in Nyanza region.
Moreover, Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua and Raila’s wife Ida Odinga are expected to visit the region Thursday, June 30.
The governor said Karua and Ida’s visit to Kisii on Thursday will rally women behind their presidential candidate.
