Bolt Kenya has recognised some of its top-performing drivers during Customer Service Week, rewarding their commitment to customer service and safety across Nairobi and Mombasa.
In a statement on Friday, October 9, 2026, the ride-hailing company said the recognition targeted drivers on its platform for at least six months and included both car drivers and boda boda riders.
The rewards included fuel and vehicle service vouchers, tyres and other forms of practical support intended to recognise the drivers’ contribution to the platform.
Bolt Recognises Drivers for Customer Service
Arthur Gacharia, Bolt’s Senior Operations Manager, said drivers play a key role in shaping customers’ experiences, as they are often the first and last point of contact during a ride.
“Drivers are often the first and last point of contact in a ride-hailing journey, and their work directly shapes the experience a customer has. Customer Service Week gives us an opportunity to recognise that contribution in a practical way and acknowledge the commitment it takes to provide a reliable service day after day,” said Arthur.

He added that recognising drivers meant acknowledging the time, effort and responsibility involved in every journey, as well as their role in keeping cities moving.
The awards presentation took place at the Nairobi Driver Engagement Center, concluding a week of activities during which visiting drivers received breakfast, T-shirts and reflector vests.
Bolt Supports Driver Safety and Electric Mobility
The recognition comes as drivers continue to contend with changing customer expectations, road safety concerns, operating costs and an evolving regulatory environment.
Samson Ouma, one of the recognised drivers, said maintaining good ratings required discipline, consistency and a commitment to providing quality service.
“Maintaining good ratings takes discipline, consistency and a strong commitment to our work. We appreciate Bolt for recognising our efforts and for investing in safety on the platform. We also thank the passengers who choose to ride with us every day. Their trust motivates us to keep improving and delivering a better experience for everyone.”
Beyond the awards, Bolt said it had launched initiatives to address challenges drivers in Kenya face.
In partnership with the Kenya Red Cross, the company trained 75 boda boda riders in first aid and emergency response skills to help them respond to road emergencies. Bolt said it was monitoring and evaluating the initiative to assess opportunities for expansion.

The company has also partnered with M-KOPA to support drivers transitioning to electric motorcycles. According to Bolt, thousands of drivers have accessed electric motorcycles through the partnership, which offers lower upfront financing requirements and reduced running and maintenance costs compared with petrol-powered motorcycles.
Bolt further stated that seven in ten motorcycles operating on its platform in Kenya were electric.
Company Engages Drivers on Industry Challenges
The ride-hailing company committed to continuing engagements with driver representatives, policymakers and regulators on issues affecting drivers and the wider ride-hailing sector.
The company said the engagements are part of its efforts to address driver concerns as the industry responds to changing expectations and operating conditions.
For the drivers recognised during Customer Service Week, the awards acknowledged the work involved in providing reliable service to passengers across the platform.
