The Board of Directors of Car and General (Kenya) PLC has announced the appointment of Dan Karuga as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company, effective 9 December 2025.
In a notice dated 9th December 2025, Car & General Kenya’s secretary, Conrad Nyukuri, announced the appointment of Dan Karugi to its board as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company, effective December 9th, 2025.
He will join the board headed by the chairman, Nichols Nganga, and the CEO, Vijay Gidoomal.
Karuga is a senior corporate executive with nearly 20 years of experience leading and transforming diverse organizations in the technology, manufacturing, and financial services sectors.

Karuga’s Work Experience
He currently serves as Africa’s Operating Lead for fintech, investment, and venture-building arm of Standard Chartered Bank Group (SC Ventures)
Karuga has also served as the East Africa Managing Director for Branch International, where he led the company’s transition from a pure digital lender to a deposit-taking institution through the acquisition of Century Microfinance Bank, Kenya’s first bank acquisition by a fintech.
Before joining Branch International, Daniel spent ten years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a global professional services firm that helps organizations solve complex business issues. At PwC, he advised clients across Africa and the United States of America on a wide range of tax and business issues.
His role included guiding companies through mergers and acquisitions, helping them structure their operations correctly, and ensuring they complied with complex tax regulations.

Karuga’s Academic Qualifications
Dan Karuga holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Kenyatta University.
He further advanced his professional expertise through certifications as a Certified Human-Centred Design Practitioner (Luma Institute, USA), Certified Director (Centre for Corporate Governance, Kenya), and Certified Executive Coach (The Academy of Executive Coaching, UK).
He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
Beyond his academic and professional qualifications, Dan is a member of the Centre for Corporate Governance (CCG) Alumni Network, the Institute of Directors (Kenya), and the Rotary Club of Hurlingham, and he serves on the Board of Directors for the ARAJA Kenya Initiative and Daraja Academy.
