The former supervisory committee chairman at UNAITAS SACCO and business mogul Solomon Gichina Mwangi has passed on.
UNAITAS SACCO made the announcement through a notice dated Wednesday 11, 2024 while reminiscing the years he has served at the SACCO.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Solomon Gichina Mwangi, Chairman of Unaitas Sacco Supervisory Committee and a dedicated farmer in Gatanga, Murang’a,” read the notice in part.
Solomon has been chairman for 20 years
Solomon began his journey with UNAITAS SACCO Society Limited as a delegate, he was later appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee, a position for over 20 years.
The SACCO noted his contributions during his leadership brought success and growth, praising him as a resilient leader.

It also stated that Solomon Gichina’s legacy is marked by impactful leadership, unwavering service, and a dedication to uplifting others. It also added that his contributions t will be remembered as a cornerstone of progress and inspiration for generations to come.

Gichina is a renowned businessman in Thika town
According to the SACCO, Gichina was a mentor and a source of inspiration to many within the organization and beyond his professional contributions. It also described him as generous in sharing his wisdom and experiences, nurturing future leaders, and fostering a culture of excellence.

Solomon, famously known as duka moja was a renowned businessman in Thika Town. He was also a dedicated dairy farmer with one of the biggest dairy farms in Murang’a County.
The farm known as Manyara Farm has over 200 cows that produce more than 1500 litres of milk per day. Solomon was awarded the best individual supplier of milk by the Kenya Creameries Co-operation (KCC).
He will be laid to rest on December 17, 2024, at his Manyara farm in Murang’a County.
