Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has defended the Jubilee administration’s high appetite for expensive commercial loans amid high taxation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 5, the ruling party’s deputy secretary-general argued Kenya could not have developed if it had not borrowed loans.
“We can’t run away from facts, and I confidently say without loans such beneficial projects like Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Thika superhighway, among other projects, could not have been developed. Let’s trust the process under our able President, his excellency Uhuru Kenyatta,” the lawmaker opined”, he said.
Kenyans petition IMF to cancel multi-billion loan Kutuny’s remarks came after over 120,000 Kenyans signed a petition asking the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to cancel a KShs 255 billion it loaned the country.
Enraged citizens wanted the multi-billion loan dropped over alleged massive corruption in government.
