President William Ruto’s economic advisor David Ndii has said he does not trust government.
In a post on his X account on Friday September 15, Economist Ndii mentioned that he neither believes politicians nor trusts government.
“I don’t believe politicians, and I don’t trust government. If you do, you are a sucker,” Ndii wrote.

Further, Ndii who chairs President Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), stated that he has been warning the country against excessive borrowing since 2014.
Additionally, he reminded Kenyans that tough decisions must be made as said by President Ruto during his swearing in ceremony.
“This expectation that Kenya can abuse credit for a decade and the same people can make consequences go away painlessly just because there was a game of musical chairs, we call elections.
Are we sober? I told you two years ago Kenya was in receivership. Nothing has changed,” said Ndii.
Ndii on Debt Solution
Moreover, the economist blamed the previous regime for the debt crisis, adding that they went for painless solutions which is now hurting the country.
“Why don’t you try borrowing money beyond your ability to pay live large for a few months, then find a painless solution, patent it and become a billionaire,” he stated.
Also, the CEA chair argued there is no solution to financial misconduct by the Jubilee government and taxpayers must face the consequences.
“Many of you were applauding Jubilee delivering infrastructure billboards you should have asked how much it cost and who will pay.
It’s time to pay. As I’ve said here many times, financial delinquency has no solutions, only consequences,” explained Ndii.

The Future is Unknown
Additionally, Ndii claimed that going forward, things can either get better or worse.
“Maybe better, maybe worse who knows. We do what we think can work if it isn’t too bad. Doctors lose patients all the time despite their best efforts,” said Ndii.
“I am not a politician, and I don’t sell hope. It is going to be painful, and it may not work. Even Oxford and Havard trained doctors lose patients,” he added.
Ndii also questioned why Kenyans believed President Ruto’s promise to revive the economy in three months during the campaigns.
“You elect them, and you know them, who is to stop them,” he posed.

Reactions to Ndii’s Statements
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna praised Ndii for confirming that the Kenya Kwanza government is using trial and error technique in running the economy.
Senator Sifuna claimed the President has no idea in running the day-to-day activities of his government.
“It’s really hard not to like David Ndii. He is confirming to you that Kenya kwanza is a pata potea government. That it’s all guesswork. “Doctor” Ruto has no clue what he’s doing. Kenya is the patient here. He is saying you are going to die,” wrote Sifuna.
Also, an X user named Omwamba stated that the president’s economic advisor confirmed that only God can save Kenya’s economy.
“David Ndii who is President William Ruto’s chief economic adviser has just confirmed that our economy is on Autopilot. It’s only God who will save us because we were lied to and we believed. We don’t have a country here,” Omwamba tweeted.
Similarly, Boniface Mwangi a blogger and human rights activist stated that Ndii prefers to put his stomach before his brain, adding that Ruto and Ndii’s economics is stomach politics.
