Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has nabbed a 27-year-old politician in connection to 57 tones of bhang recovered stashed six gunny bags in a house.
According to the DCI the suspects were arrested on December 21 on the outskirts of Isiolo County after a through investigations leading to the recovery of the prohibited drug.
In a statement by the directorate, the suspects identified as Nura Abdi Diba and Abdilahi Golicha Meja were arrested thereafter leading the DCI team to a house stashed with the 57 tones of the prohibited herb.

DCI Arrest Chari Ward MCA
Notably according to the DCI, the second suspect Abdilahi Golicha Meja is the area Member of County Assembly Chari Ward in Isiolo County.

“Today, on the outskirts of Isiolo town, Transnational Organized Crimes Unit officers and a multi-agency team arrested two suspected drug traffickers namely Nura Abdi Diba, 25 and Abdillahi Golicha Meja, 27, thereby recovering 57 stones of bhang stashed in a house,” said DCI.
At the time of the arrest, the two according to DCI were trailed within Isiolo town while driving a Toyota Land Cruiser which led the team to the first suspects house at Kambi Garba Estate on the outskirts of Isiolo where the DCI recovered the 57 tones were recovered.
“The two were flagged down within Isiolo town while driving a motor vehicle make Toyota Land Cruiser Reg No. KDG 034G, before the team proceeded to the house of Nura Abdi Diba at Kambi Garba Estate on the outskirts of Isiolo town where six gunny bags containing the 57 stones of the prohibited herb were recovered,” stated DCI.
In addition, the DCI noted that the bhang recovered has been ferried to the DCI headquarters as exhibits while the two suspects undergo investigative interviews.
“The exhibits have since been escorted to DCI headquarters for further processing as the suspects undergo investigative interviewing. So far, the detectives have established that the 2nd suspect (Golicha Meja) is a sitting MCA for Chari Ward in Isiolo County,” stated the DCI.
Police Arrest in Lodwar Town
On the other, the Isiolo case is not an isolated crime incident. On December 19, police arrested four suspects alleged to have stolen money from a locked car.

At the time, the National Police officers and the DCI intercepted a getaway vehicle along the Kitale- Lodwar highway as the operation to recovering the stolen money went underway.
“NPS Officers based in Lodwar Police Station and their DCI colleagues intercepted a getaway vehicle at Sopel along Lodwar -Kitale Highway and arrested the 4 occupants, namely,” stated the NPS.

Notably, according to the National Police Officers the matter is under investigation by DCI Turkana Central.
