Former US President Donald Trump has launched a sneaker line named “Trump Sneakers” just a day after a judge ordered him and his companies to pay nearly $355 million (Ksh.51 billion) in a New York civil fraud trial.
The unveiling took place at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia, where Trump showcased a pair of gold sneakers named the “Never Surrender High-Top Sneaker” priced at $399 (Ksh 57,456).
Trump expressed confidence in the success of his sneaker venture, coinciding with his increasing momentum towards the 2024 Republican nomination and a potential rematch with President Joe Biden.
The Trump Sneakers are marketed under CIC Ventures LLC, with a disclaimer on the website stating that they are not designed or sold by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, or their affiliates.
However, LLC uses his image, name and likeness under a license agreement.
By the end of the day, the $399 sneakers were already sold out on the website, with 1,000 pairs initially available.

However, Biden’s campaign spokesperson Michael Tyler criticized Trump’s appearance at Sneaker Con, likening it to him trying to sell bootleg Off-Whites.
“Donald Trump showing up to hawk bootleg Off-Whites is the closest he’ll get to any Air Force Ones ever again for the rest of his life.” said Michael Tyler
Trump’s Entrepreneurship
Trump’s sneaker line launch comes as no surprise, as he has always been known for his entrepreneurial spirit.
The former US president has a long history of successful business ventures, including real estate, golf courses, and even a university.
Despite his recent legal woes, Trump remains confident in his ability to succeed in the business world.
Trump claims that the sneakers are not just a product, but a symbol of his resilience and determination.
The “Never Surrender High-Top Sneaker” represents Trump’s refusal to back down in the face of adversity, while the “T” and “45” sneakers pay homage to his presidency.

The cologne and perfume, named “Victory 47,” are a nod to his 2016 election victory and his potential future success.
While some may criticize Trump’s decision to launch a sneaker line amidst his legal battles, others see it as a testament to his ability to persevere in the face of adversity.

Trump’s supporters have already shown their enthusiasm for the product, with the $399 sneakers selling out within hours of their launch.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated, “I’m not just launching a sneaker line, I’m launching a movement. We’re going to show the world that we’re not going anywhere, and we’re going to keep fighting for the American people”.
Trump Legal Troubles
On February 15, a New York state judge confirmed that Trump’s criminal trial in a hush-money case will begin on March 25.
Additionally, Trump and his companies were ordered to pay nearly $355 million for fraudulently inflating his property values.
The former US president also has a $83 million issued against him in a judgement for defaming the 2024 Republican front-runner Jean Carroll. This sums his fines to a solid $438 million (Ksh 63 billion) in one month.
Public reaction to the launch
Trump’s sneaker line launch has generated mixed reactions from the public.
Some have praised his entrepreneurial spirit and ability to bounce back from legal challenges, while others have criticized him for prioritizing business ventures over his legal battles.
Only time will tell if the Trump Sneakers will be a success or not with the legal battle and the coming US elections.
