The National Drought Response Committee has raised Ksh.542 million for Kenyans hit by famine.
The Committee headed by Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa noted that the funds will be used to purchase food for distribution as well as doing cash transfers.
While speaking at the state house on Friday, December 2, President William Ruto commended various organizations for stepping forward to support the Government’s efforts in curbing the ongoing drought in the country.
“This is beyond patriotism; we are indebted to you,” he said.
In addition, president Ruto added that the Government will put more resources to help Kenyans in need of food aid as well as investing in agriculture to boost food production.
“To deal with climate change challenges we must have comprehensive short, medium and long-term plans,” Dr. Ruto added.
