Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was on Tuesday night the scene of a charged reception, as 208 officers of the National Police Service were formally received following their return from deployment in Haiti under the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission.
As they stepped off the Pride of Africa, Kenya Airways, the national carrier, pride registered in each measured salute, prayers were offered in quiet gratitude, emotion surfaced in the reunions that followed, and then, almost inevitably, came the celebration.
Their return follows a deployment that extended beyond frontline operations, with the officers contributing to institutional rebuilding in Haiti. They supported the rehabilitation of the National Police Academy now training its third cohort and the revival of the Armed Forces College, leaving behind a legacy of courage, professionalism and service that will endure long after their return.
