Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has been released on a Ksh 50,000 bond and Ksh 100,000 cash bail.
Njenga, who was arraigned at the Nakuru Law Courts charged with 12 counts including being a Mungiki member and recruiting members into the organization.
Earlier last week, DCI officers in Nakuru had followed a lead, after two firearms and 90 rolls of bhang were found at a home linked to Maina.
The court directed Njenga to restrain from making statements through the press or public hearings.
He was further required not to make any contact with any prosecution witnesses likely to jeopardize the case, in which the bond would be cancelled.

Maina spent last Thursday at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu road, where he was grilled for hour regarding allegations of inviting individuals to the said meeting at the Wanyororo area where he is alleged to have provided instructions connected with Mungiki.
Police lobbying teargas at his growing supporters at the offices, who kept chanting for Maina’s release.
Njenga is also accused of being in possession of “a military backpack strap, property of the National Police Service (NPS) that is suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.”
