Faith Odhiambo was elected as the 51st president and the second female of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK)on 1st March,2024.
The LSK president has remained in the limelight since her election, but she has been of public interest from the onset of the anti-finance bill protests in Kenya.
Faith has been on the forefront fighting for protesters’ right to demonstrate and picket peacefully, without being harassed by law enforcement officers and release of protestants detained by the police.
The society maintained that the violence witnessed during the protests occurred as a reaction to excesses use of police force on protestors.
“We maintain that the violence that has been witnessed during the protests has been perpetuated by or as a reaction to excesses of police force and arbitrariness,” said LSK.
Faith Odhiambo is the second female president of Law society of Kenya, with the first one being former Defense Minister Raychelle Omamo who served between 2001-2003.
Faith Odhiambo ‘s Educational Background
In a past interview, Faith revealed that her dream of pursuing Law started back in her high school days, but she did not qualify to enroll in the coveted University of Nairobi.
She holds a Bachelor of Law from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of law and master’s in international Commercial Law with European Law from University of Kent (UK).

She is a PhD student, at the University of Nairobi where her research is focused on issues to do with competition law, consumer protection law, telecommunications law, banking law, financial services, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
Faith Odhiambo previously worked with the Competition Authority of Kenya where she was tasked with the role of advising on the interpretation of legal provisions regarding violations under restrictive trade practices, merger transactions and consumer protection complaints.
Additionally, Faith is a lecturer at the University of Nairobi School of Law where she teaches Law of Business Associations, Banking Law, Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law.
Career
In 2017, she was also involved in a Retail Market Study of Kenya, Advisory Projects for Competition in the Mobile financial services in Tanzania, as well as the Advisory projects on Spectrum Management in Kenya.
Odhiambo is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators-UK (MCIarb) and is a Certified Public Secretary (CPS).
The LSK President also served as a board secretary of the Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) and is a partner at Ombok and Owuor Advocates and a consulting partner at MMA Advocates.
Shortly after her election, Faith vowed to fight corruption to the core in her mandate. She also promised to stand firm in serving members of the society and addressing their grievances while insisting that service had always been part of her dream.
She was elected to spearhead the Society for two years, taking over from Eric Theuri who was at the helm of LSK for two years – from 2022 to 2024.

Previously, Odhiambo served as Vice president of the LSK during the Theuri’s tenure.
Faith won the prestigious seat in the society against other female competitors including former LSK Vice president Caroline Kamende and Hariet Njeri Mboce.
