A funeral in Kibwezi, Makueni County, turned chaotic after angry youth chased away the area Member of Parliament for approving the Finance Bill 2024.
In videos shared online, Kibwezi West Member of Parliament (MP) Mwengi Mutuse arrived at the event and took a front seat. His arrival, however, raised tension and jitters among the mourners present.
When Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana took to the stage to give a speech, the MP was seen speaking to a man who has since been identified as a nominated Member of County Assembly.

Chaos Erupt at the Funeral
The conversation between the member of parliament and the unknown man escalated quickly.
After a while, Mutese and the MCA were seen shoving each other to disrupt the funeral.
Shortly after, other youth at the event joined the scuffle while the relatives of the deceased stood around the coffin to protect it.
At the time, relatives of the deceased were seen embracing each other and in tears as they watched the chaos escalate.
Some mourners were then seen running away from the scene while the MP was escorted away from the funeral.
Some of the plastic seats were destroyed in the chaos while the mourners dashed out of the event.
Following the chaos, only the priest and the family members were left to conclude the final burial rites.

MPs Receiving Backlash from Kenyans
The MP is one of many who have in the past week been on the receiving end of rage from Kenyans.
Earlier, protesters raided and vandalized the home of Molo MP and National Assembly Finance and Planning Chairperson Kuria Kimani, eventually setting it on fire.
On Thursday, June 27, protesters surrounded Osoro’s home in an attempt to storm in.
Reports indicated that the angry protesters wanted to torch his house as a show of discontent for supporting the punitive finance bill 2024.
In response, Osoro warned individuals who plan on targeting his home, saying that they will suffer instant justice.
“Ignore rumors/imaginary posts about the razing of my homes. Thats an insult to Gen Z’s. They are NOT arsonists. I am in my rural home, safe and all jocular as I enjoy stories from my people.
“But if criminals target my home for their ‘ritual’, well, either of us will suffer instant justice,” he said.
The invasion of Parliament on Tuesday, June 25, during the anti-Finance Bill demonstration, which occurred shortly after the bill was passed, caused fear among some of the members of parliament.
However, the government had since deployed police officers to guard the home of Sylvanus Osoro.
