Former Deputy (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he will address the nation on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Speaking on February 2, Gachagua said he will give a report on the information he has gathered from the people since he left office.

“I promised that by January 31st, I will have gathered the opinion of the people and give them political direction. I want to ask for forgiveness because I am late because the opinions have been too much,” he said.

Gachagua said he expected reviews from Mt. Kenya but received reports from people across the country, which made the process longer.

“We took reviews from everybody, and I am still continuing but on Sunday, February 9, I will give the interim report of the opinion I have gathered,” he said.

Additionally, Gachagua said he will be live on all radio stations to tell the country what Kenyans have advised him to do going forward. However, he explained that his team is not rushing the process to ensure they don’t repeat the mistakes made in 2022.

Joining UDA

Gachagua said he trusted President William Ruto and joined Kenya Kwanza based on faith and prayers.

“We don’t want to rush the process because we don’t want to make the same mistakes,” Gachagua said. “I am very careful because we made many mistakes. We joined the government without an agreement, basing it on faith and Christianity.”

“We thought Ruto was good because he was a Christian and we cannot repeat the mistakes we made. I have to be very careful,” Gachagua added.

He explained that the reports consist of what Kenyans have told him, and he will, together with the people to discuss the next steps afterward.

Illicit Brews in Mt. Kenya

Gachagua criticized the government for allowing the consumption of illicit brews in the Mt. Kenya region after he was impeached.

He claimed that the government had deliberately allowed the brews to return, aiming to harm the youth.

Gachagua Reveals Plans of the New Administration

According to Gachagua, the economy is not thriving because the government has raided employees’ pay slips.

He said their administration will eliminate deductions such as the housing levy to allow people to build their own homes.

“Our first responsibility in the new administration we are working on will be to rescue the pay slip, restore its dignity, and that of its holder,” he said.

Gachagua said he has a problem with the lies within President Ruto’s government.
