Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata has asked members of the public to help him identify a suspect captured by CCTV stealing a waiting bench at Murang’a level 5 hospital.
The governor shared footage on October 29, showing the man dismantling and struggling to carry the metallic bench.

Additionally, the man is seen walking around the hospitals’ compound checking to make sure that no one was watching him.
He seemed unaware of the CCTV that was positioned directly opposite him. However, after a while, he succeeds and carries the hospital waiting bench out of the compound.

“Report this thief to the nearest police station. He stole a bench at Murang’a level 5 hospital. Help us find this thief who stole a bench,” Irungu stated.
Notably, the footage indicated that the incident occurred on October 29, at 6:42 pm.

Kang’ata on County security measures
At the same time, the governor indicated that the county government has installed CCTV cameras in various facilities.
He further noted that the security of county resources was assured because of the cameras that were also making it easy to catch culprits.
“Murang’a County takes pride it has CCTV cameras all over,” he added.
Recent Cases of CCTV Exposing Suspects
In a separate incident on September 20, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), indicated that a CCTV footage from a popular entertainment joint helped them identify a suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo.
Moreover, DCI stated that the footage showed Maigo meeting three women at the club including a known suspect.
Also, the DCI have in the past exposed criminals stealing from parking lots captured by CCTV footages.
