The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project has issued an update to all applicants regarding their applications.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 4, the project management advised applicants to remain vigilant and rely only on official communication channels amid rising concerns over fake online pages targeting youths.
It further clarified that all authentic updates on Business Support, Recognition of Prior Learning, and the ongoing On-the-Job Experience programmes would be shared solely through the NYOTA Project website and its verified social media platforms.
Any future communication regarding application progress will be sent directly to the phone numbers used during registration, in addition to being posted on official online platforms.
Authorities further assured applicants that all services under the NYOTA Project are completely free of charge.
“We urge all youth to stay vigilant, report such fraudulent pages, and NOT share their personal information with them,” read the update in part.
Govt Issues Warning to NYOTA Project Applicants
For accurate information, applicants are encouraged to visit the NYOTA Project office, consult the nearest sub-county youth office, or reach out through the toll-free number 0800 222 221 and official social media pages.

This development comes after the Cabinet endorsed the NYOTA Project — a flagship government and World Bank initiative targeting over 820,000 vulnerable and unemployed youth, including persons with disabilities — during a meeting chaired by President William Ruto.
It followed an earlier announcement in which NYOTA invited interested candidates to apply for available job and training opportunities.
Structured into four components, the project covers paid on-the-job training, entrepreneurship support, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certification.
According to a Cabinet dispatch dated Tuesday, July 29, the NYOTA on-the-job experience component targets 90,000 youth, each receiving a monthly stipend of KSh6,000.
The stipends will be deposited into Haba Haba savings accounts, with successful applicants attached to various employers for three to six months.
Applications opened on July 11, with the deadline set for August 15, 2025.

How to Apply for the NYOTA Programme
- Dial *254# on your phone.
- When the prompt appears, select NYOTA Project (Option 3).
- Choose “Apply for NYOTA” (Option 1).
- Select your preferred category — choose On-the-Job Experience.
- Follow the prompts and accept the terms and conditions.
- You will be required to answer a few questions:
- Do you have a disability?
- What is your highest level of education?
- Is the number you are using the one they can contact you on?
- After completing these steps, submit your application. You will receive a confirmation message on your phone regarding your eligibility.
