The government through the State Department of Immigration Services has announced changes in the passport application and collection processes.
Through a statement on Sunday, July 28, the department has indicated that the move is meant to better its services as well as simplify the process.
Additionally, the statement indicated that the move had been made following feedback received from members of the public online.
Therefore, applicants will no longer be required to book appointments with Huduma Centres to be able to collect their passports.
Booking an appointment in usually included in an application process for users to select their preferred day and time to present themselves for fingerprint processing and collection of the document.
“Further, we have simplified the process of passport delivery: applicants are no longer required to book for appointment to collect passports. The Directorate of Immigration Services is Listening and open to all emerging issues,” the statement read in part.
Instead, the department has said that applicants can now contact the department directly through different channels adding that it was addressing issues raised from all social media platforms.
“The immigration department has open Communication Channels where applicants can directly contact us through email: [email protected] WhatsApp: +254 796 374 902.
“We have a dedicated team to expeditiously address issues raised from all social media platforms,” added the state department.

Application Process with New Changes
1.Register for an e-citizen account.
2.Fill online application.
3.Scan and upload required documents.
4.Pay prescribed fee.
5.Book appointment. (Now scrapped off)
6.Print the duly completed application form and two invoices.
7.Attached copies of required documents.
8.Submission and biometrics (on the appointment date) – No longer applies
On the other hand, first time applicants must have a duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices. In addition, they must also have Original Birth Certificate and a copy for citizens of Kenya by birth and original applicant’s national identity card and a copy for adults
Minors must have a duly filled Consent Form for minors, copies of parents’ national IDs or Death certificates where applicable and original and Copies of parents’ birth certificates.

Latest Update on Urgent passport Applications
In a statement on July 24, the State Department expressed its commitment to serve Kenyans and pledged to remain open to facilitate urgent passports processing to fulfil this mandate.
Therefore, individuals with urgent passport needs were directed to call the department’s hotline or visit the offices.
“Therefore, for urgent passport processing kindly contact @Immigration Dept and provide documentary proof of urgency. Call-Hotline: +254 110 922 065, Call Centre: +254 110 923 423, WhatsApp: +254 796 374 902 and Email: [email protected],” the statement read in parts.
