A section of Kenyans online praised a Citi Hoppa bus driver who attempted to stop the abductors of Tanzanian human rights activist Maria Sarungi Tsehai.
In a video shared on social, the Citi Hoppa bus is seen trying to block the black vehicle from driving away at outside Chaka Place near Kilimani area in Nairobi.
Blogger and government critic Francis Gaitho said the driver did a good job by trying to block the abductors.
Gaitho asked Kenyans to be vigilant and help in fighting the abductors.
“A shout-out to the Citi Hoppa driver who attempted to block the vehicle which abducted Tanzanian activist Tsehai at Yaya Center in Nairobi. Next time don’t miss fellow Kenyans. Acheni uoga (Don’t fear),” he said.
Blogger Cyprian is Nyakundi also hailed the driver for trying to help catch and identify the abductors by preventing their escape.
“The momentum is picking and anyone in civilian clothes and unofficial cars trying to abduct people will face the music since DCI and Police said they are not the ones,” Nyakundi said.
Another user named TL Elder highlighted the role of citizen journalism in Kenya.
The user said the driver is his hero for 2025 and asked God to bless him.
“That Citi Hoppa bus driver who tried to block the Toyota Noah which abducted Maria Sarungi Tsehai, you are my hero in 2025. God bless whoever that man is,” TL Elder said.
Reward for Citi Hoppa Driver
Another user by the name Wambungu asked Kenyans to identify the driver and reward him for his effort.
He also called out other drivers who were watching the incident but did not try to block the car.
“Shout to the Citi Hoppa driver, we need to send something for unga (flour). The other one is shouting instead of blocking the car,” Wambungu said.
Similarly, X user, Mistress said “share the no. of the driver we send him a token of appreciation.”
Banku also said the driver should be appreciated for his effort and patriotism.
“Kenyan fellow, help us get the contact of the Hopa drive, we should do something to appreciate for his effort and patriotism. We shall do something for him,” Banku said.
Others Asked to Copy the Driver
Caleb explained that the identity of the abductors will be revealed if all Kenyans react like the Citi Hoppa driver.
“Good job, Citi Hoppa, for trying to block the abductors, if everyone of us responded like the Citi Hoppa driver today. We will nail down the abductors and get to know them by names,” Caleb said.

However, another user, Mwandokamau, urged security officers not to be involved in abductions.
The user urged officers to always be in uniform and ensure they carry their identification (ID) cards while conducting arrests.
“If you’re law enforcement… Kindly don’t accept to be used this way. What’s coming down will shock everyone to the core. Make sure you have your IDs and uniform,” mwandokamau said.
