World Record holder Faith Kipyegon will attempt to break another record on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Kipyegon will attempt to become the first woman to run the elusive sub-4-minute mile at Stade Charléty in Paris.
The world will witness Kipyegon’s bold attempt to redefine the limits of women’s middle-distance running.
Titled Breaking4: Faith Kipyegon vs. the 4-Minute Mile, the event is backed by Nike and modelled after their 2017 Breaking2 project.
Kipyegon will try to run below the 4:00 mark, which would make her the first woman to complete the threshold.
The record has been a long-held track standard since British runner Roger Bannister first ran a sub-four-minute mile in 1954.
Kipyegon clocked her personal best of 4:07.64 in 2023, meaning she must trim nearly eight seconds from that time to reach the milestone.
Live Streaming
The event will be live streamed globally via Nike’s YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Amazon Prime Video.
You can also watch a replay on Prime Video beginning the next day.
It will start at 7:15 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST), 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and 8:15 p.m. East African Time (EAT).
Nike has been chronicling Kipyegon’s training and journey thus far with a new docuseries titled Breaking4.
The first episode was released on June 20, and the conclusion will be aired after the attempt.
Faith Kipyegon Achievement if She Breaks the Record
Kipyegon, a three-time Olympic champion and world record holder in both the 1500m (3:49.04) and the mile (4:07.64).
She will aim to cut at least 7.65 seconds off her personal best—a feat never before achieved by a woman.
The challenge is a mixture of athletic performance and cutting-edge innovation.

This includes aerodynamic suits, Nike’s lightest super-spikes, male pacers for optimal drafting, and fine-tuned pacing conditions.
Kipyegon will have a great impact on the race even though the time won’t be officially record-eligible due to the controlled environment.
If she breaks the 4-minute record, Kipyegon would break a psychological barrier that has defined men’s middle-distance running since Roger Bannister’s 1954 milestone.
