A reward of 100,000 Kenya shillings is being offered to any member of the public who provides relevant information that will help catch the robbers who broke into the Iko Nini Podcast studio on the morning of April 12.
According to the podcast host, Mwafreeka, the three suspects broke into the studio and stole two A74 Sony cameras, as captured by the CCTV in the studio.
The public has been urged to provide any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the three men.
“The night turning into the morning today, the studio had been broken into, and it was unexpected, and something worse could have happened,” Mwafreeka stated.
Narrating the occurrence of the night leading to the robbery, Mwafreeka stated that he had visited the studio at around 1:43 a.m to work on the recorded video.
According to Mwafreeka, he left at 3:34 a.m., locked the studio with the padlock as they usually did, and went upstairs to rest at 4:30 a.m.
Around 7:30 in the morning, Mwafreeka was woken up by his nephew, who told him that the studio had been broken into.
The padlock, which Mwafreeka thought was extremely safe, was opened without the robbers breaking the padlock and placed in the laundry basket.

After speaking with the landlord, the podcast host filed a robbery report at the Akila police station and obtained an OB.
Two police officers arrived at the studio, followed by the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the OCS, nd the forensic team to conduct investigations.
Following the recent robbery, the Iko Nini Podcast host added that the security officer in charge had left the scene to attend to his other job.
Stolen Items From Iko Nini Studio
According to the report by Mwafreeka, two A74 Sony cameras were among the items stolen during the robbery. The cameras had the lenses, one with a Sigma lens, which he used to get close-up shots.
In addition, the robbers also took the stands that come together with the cameras. He, however, noted that no other items, including the computers, were stolen.

Mwafreeka has also stated that the studio had no insurance, and therefore, the studio will have to buy other cameras and continue the show without any insurance coverage.
He, however, mentioned that he could trace the serial number of one of the cameras he had bought from Cameras Africa, but was not certain he would be able to obtain the serial number of the other camera he had bought from BNH.
Mwafreeka has added that the studio will reinforce the security as he proceeds to Langata police station to make a statement.
