Inside Luxury Maasai Mara Camp Soon Charging at Least Ksh142K Per Night [PHOTOS]

Located within the breathtaking Maasai Mara, Mahali Mzuri, Billionaire Sir Richard Branson’s award-winning luxury tented safari camp, is undergoing a spectacular transformation.

When it reopens in June 2025, the camp promises to offer guests an unparalleled blend of elegance, sustainability, and connection to nature, at a rate starting from Ksh142,000 ($1,100) per tent per night.

The renovations, done in collaboration with Lynne Hunt London, reimagines Mahali Mzuri’s signature 12 luxury tents and communal spaces, elevating them into a harmonious fusion of modern African design and Maasai tradition.

Moreover, while preserving the iconic tented structures and their deep ties to Maasai culture, the new interiors will feature earthy colour palettes accented by vibrant reds and blacks, a respectful approval of the Maasai culture.

The design also celebrates local artistry, with carefully curated contemporary artworks from East African creators woven throughout the camp.

The individual tents, including a dedicated family tent, will offer open-plan suite-style living, complete with wraparound windows and terraces that seamlessly merge the indoors with the outdoors.

Guests will awaken to views of the Mara’s rolling hills and valleys, a stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration, and a spectacle that inspired Mahali Mzuri’s inception.

Communal spaces, such as the open firepit area, dining tent, and bar and lounge, will provide vibrant hubs for post-game drive gatherings.

Whether relaxing by the infinity pool, which overlooks the migration route or enjoying a sundowner while observing the wildlife, Mahali Mzuri ensures every moment is steeped in serenity.

The camp’s General Manager, Wilson Odhiambo, highlighted the importance of integrating local culture and sustainability into this refreshed vision.

“Our continued partnership with the local Maasai people is at the heart of everything we do. From custom Maasai beadwork to bronze spear finials, the reimagined design celebrates craftsmanship while staying true to its roots,” said the manager.

Sustainability Features Inside the Maasai Mara Camp

On the other hand, the camp runs on up to 100% renewable energy thanks to a solar farm and uses rainwater harvesting systems to reduce environmental impact.

Also, a thriving kitchen garden supplies chefs with fresh, homegrown produce, further underscoring the camp’s commitment to eco-conscious living.

Beyond luxury, Mahali Mzuri invests deeply in the surrounding communities. Employing 80 per cent of its staff from neighbouring Maasai villages, the camp has supported transformative projects, including funding and running a primary school for 300 pupils for over a decade.

The partnership with local landowners and conservationists ensures the preservation of the ecosystem while uplifting local livelihoods.

Reopening just in time for the Great Migration in July and August, Mahali Mzuri offers an unparalleled front-row seat to one of nature’s most awe-inspiring events.

Guests can book to be among the first to experience this reimagined retreat. The rates are inclusive of all meals, drinks, twice-daily game drives, transfers, and more.
