Iran’s political advisor, Ali Shamkhani, has said that Iran is ready to strike a nuclear deal with US President Donald Trump if the agreement to lift sanctions is met.
Ali Shamkhani, a senior political adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated that Iran is prepared to renounce the pursuit of nuclear weapons permanently.
He added that the country would eliminate its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, limit uranium enrichment to levels suitable for civilian use, and permit international inspectors to oversee its nuclear activities.
The remarks come amid ongoing nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran. While American officials have characterised recent discussions as constructive, Iranian representatives maintain that key disagreements have yet to be resolved.
Iran Demands US Lift Sanctions
Shamkhani stated that Tehran is prepared to permanently abandon the development of nuclear weapons, eliminate its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium materials that could be weaponised, and limit enrichment to levels suitable for peaceful, civilian use.
He added that Iran would also allow international inspectors to monitor and verify its nuclear activities. In return, Iran is seeking the immediate lifting of all economic sanctions imposed on the country.
According to NBC News, when he was asked whether Iran would agree to such a deal if the conditions were met, Shamkhani said that Iran would indeed be willing to sign the agreement.
