Kenyan environmentalist and climate champion Isaac Kalua Green has presented his new book, Come Back and Check, to Prince Albert II of Monaco during a meeting at the Prince’s Palace.
In a statement dated September 12, 2026, the Green Africa Foundation said the meeting reviewed more than two decades of cooperation between the foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
“Dr Isaac Kalua Green, Chief Steward of the Green Africa Foundation, today presented His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco with the first copy of his new book, Come Back and Check, at a meeting at the Prince’s Palace that reviewed more than two decades of cooperation between the Green Africa Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, and explored new areas of partnership across Africa’s climate and conservation agenda,” It read.
The discussions also explored new partnership areas around climate and conservation efforts across Africa.
Focus on Climate and Conservation- Kalua Green
The statement also noted that the meeting covered the Green Africa Foundation’s contribution to continental sustainability efforts, including the Green Africa Villages model and the Plant Your Age campaign.
Green also shared his new book, which examines how governments, companies and environmental campaigns measure the results of tree-planting initiatives.

The book argues that we should pay more attention to trees that survive and grow rather than focusing mainly on the number planted.
In the book, Green applies the proposed approach to his own Plant Your Age campaign, which reports an estimated 981 million tree-growing contributions since 2011.
Kalua said the campaign underwent the same assessment he proposes for governments and corporations.
“For years, we have measured our progress by what we plant on the day of planting, not by what is still standing when no one is watching,” Kalua Green said.
He said the book began with an assessment of his own campaign before extending the call for verification to governments and other organizations.
Kenya-Monaco Climate Partnership
Prince Albert II’s relationship with Green spans about two decades. The Prince visited Green Africa Foundation project sites in Kitui in 2010 and wrote the foreword to Green’s earlier book, Green for Life.
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has programs focused on climate, biodiversity, water and ocean protection.

Romain Ciarlet, Vice-Chairman and CEO of the foundation, said its renewed focus in Africa includes working with communities to improve livelihoods and mobilizing private capital for scalable African enterprises.
The meeting also discussed possible areas of collaboration between the two foundations, particularly around community-level environmental work in Africa.
Isaac Kalua Green also spoke about his recent appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Green Nairobi Company.
The newly established entity is exploring partnerships with international institutions to support climate and environmental infrastructure and services at scale.
The Green Africa Foundation was founded in 2000 and is led by Green. It promotes sustainable development through initiatives such as the Green Africa Villages model and the Plant Your Age campaign.
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation was established in 2006 and supports projects addressing climate change, biodiversity, water, and ocean protection.
