Dr. Julius Kipngetich is set to retire from the board of the Standard Group PLC in the 107th Annual General Meeting notice.
The announcement was made in the official notice for the company’s 107th Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held virtually on June 30, 2025.
Kipngetich will not offer himself for re-election, in line with Article 101 of the company’s Articles of Association.
Kipngetich, whose career has spanned top roles in both the public and private sectors, is widely credited with bringing a disciplined, performance-driven culture to several organizations across East Africa.
A former CEO of Equity Bank Kenya and the Kenya Wildlife Service, his leadership is often cited as transformative.

During his tenure on the board of The Standard Group, Kipngetich played a pivotal role in driving strategic oversight and guiding the company through an evolving media landscape.

Also retiring from the board without seeking re-election is Ms. Leonie Von Eifeldt.
Meanwhile, Dr. James Boyd McFie and Dr. Michael Lusiola have offered themselves for re-election as directors.
The annual general meeting will also see the re-election of members to the Board Audit and Risk Committee, including Ms. Christine Muthui, Mr. Albert Sigei, Mr. Chris Otundo, Dr. McFie, and Dr. Lusiola.

Kipngetich is the Group Chief Executive Officer at Jubilee Holdings Ltd.
His career began in academia, where he played a key role in launching parallel degree programs at the University of Nairobi, an initiative that broadened access to higher education across Kenya.

Over the years, Kipngetich has held a number of prominent leadership roles.
He was the CEO and Director of Uchumi Supermarkets Ltd between 2016 and 2017, and prior to that, he led the Kenya Wildlife Service from 2004 to 2012, guiding the organization through significant transformation during his eight-year tenure.
Before his time at KWS, he served as Director of the Student Welfare Authority at the University of Nairobi.
He also worked at Equity Group Holdings Plc as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director between 2014 and 2015.
His board-level experience includes serving with organizations such as the Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Ltd., the Kenya Tourist Board, and the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation.
In addition to his executive roles, Kipngetich was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi’s School of Business.
