The CEO of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) Andrew Mulwa has been announced as the winner of the African Governance Award 2024.
In a statement on Friday, January 12, the Ministry of Health indicated that KEMSA was also recognized as the most outstanding medical supplies authority across Africa.
Mulwa will be awarded at the 2024 African Governance Conference and Gala Award ceremony, scheduled to take place in Mauritius between February 7 to February 10.
“Dr. Andrew Mulwa, CEO of Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), has been confirmed as a winner of the African Governance Award and the Most Outstanding Medical Supplies Authority.
“These accolades acknowledge Dr. Mulwa’s outstanding contributions to public governance, enhancing Kenya’s prominence in Africa’s political and socio-economic realm,” the statement read in part.

How Mulwa, KEMSA CEO Was Selected
The CEO trampled other nominees and emerged the winner after a rigorous selection process.
Also, the selection process included a nomination by members of the public and authentication of the nomination based on the history of the conduct of the nominee.
The selection panel took note of the nominees’ impact in research in the category by a selection Jury.
Additionally, Baroness Paulette Kporo, the Executive Director of the Business Executive Media Group, the institution that organizes the event, explained that the process was thorough, and winners were well deserving.
“The process involved your nomination by the African public, authentication of your nomination claims with regards to your conduct, performance and impact by our dedicated research consultants,
“And ultimately an expert assessment of same compared to the other nominees in your category by our specially constituted international Awards Selection Jury,” Kporo stated.

The Awards Event
The event is considered one of the largest gatherings of top public officials in Africa among other dignitaries.
According to the Business Executive Media Group, the awardees themselves will be present as will several other top tier government functionaries, as well as politicians, corporate and institutional executives.
Further, the institution added that “traditional rulers and civil society leaders wishing to lend their support to awardees and use the opportunity to network with the movers and shakers of Africa’s elite public sector.
“It will also be attended by the international media and public sector and public policy analysts and commentators from all around the world.
