The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a 22-day closure of the Njoro–Mau Summit (B129) Road to allow for major pavement reconstruction works aimed at improving road safety and travel efficiency.
In a public notice dated October 9, 2025, KeNHA said the road will be closed from Thursday, October 16, to Thursday, November 6, 2025, to facilitate the works.
The closure point, according to the notice, “is about 1 km past the Keringet Factory and 2 km before Molo Town.”
The authority explained that the closure is necessary to enable reconstruction of a critical section of the busy route, which connects agricultural zones and serves as a link between Njoro, Molo, and Mau Summit.
The works are part of KeNHA’s broader infrastructure improvement plan to enhance pavement quality and extend road lifespan.
Alternative Routes from KeNHA
A temporary diversion has been provided for motorists during the closure period.
KeNHA cautioned that lorries and long trucks will not be allowed to use the diversion because of a sharp and restricted curve that poses safety risks to larger vehicles.

“Motorists operating such vehicles are advised to use alternative routes,” the notice stated.
“In particular, those heading to Molo and Mau Summit are advised to use the Nakuru–Mau Summit (A8) Road via Kibunja Junction, as indicated in the attached route map.”
The authority urged drivers to adhere strictly to the diversion plan and traffic signs placed along the route to avoid accidents and unnecessary delays.
“KeNHA appeals to all road users to follow the proposed traffic management plan for their safety,” the notice read.
Traffic Disruptions
Acting Director General Luka Kimeli, stated that the agency remains committed to ensuring the smooth and safe completion of the project.
He noted that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to ensure the durability of the reconstructed pavement.
The 22-day closure is expected to cause moderate traffic disruptions around Njoro and Molo, with transporters and farmers in the region advised to plan logistics in advance.
