The Kenya Airways has announced delays in departures out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi amidst the ongoing anti-government protest.
According to a statement from Kenya Airways, the delays are necessitated by several road closures in CBD that have affected the crew members and customers.
Further, the statement explained that customers affected directly by the delays will receive direct communication from Kenya Airways.
“We wish to advise our customers to expect some delays in departures out of Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport TODAY (02 July 2024) due to some road closures that has impacted both our crew and customers.
“Impacted customers will be communicated to directly on the changes to their flight schedules,” the statement read in part.

Kenya Airways Issues Advice to Affected Customers
At the same time, the company advised customers to plan for an extra four hours for their journey to the airport to try and get there on time.
Additionally, customers have been asked to reach out for further information

Flight Affected by Earlier Protests
Following anti Finance Bill 2024 protest held on June 25, Kenya Airways (KQ) reported that it experienced system outage that affected some of its core services including the booking and flight status updates.
In a statement, the company said that the disruptions were caused by damage to the undersea cable that provides internet.
“We would like to notify our customers that we are experiencing a system outage that has impacted some of our core services, including our booking system, flight status updates, and customer support.
“This outage is as a result of damage to the undersea cable as communicated by our internet service provider,” KQ said in a statement.
In addition, the airline explained that services were further disrupted as some of its employees were unable to make it to their workstations on time because of road closures due to the anti-Finance Bill Protests.
“This was further exacerbated by the road closures which made it difficult for some of our employees to attend their workstations on time, leading us to reschedule and cancel some of our flights,” KQ added.
