The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya MET) has issued a five-day weather forecast for the period between June 1 to June 5, 2024.
Kenya Met noted that most parts of the country are likely to be generally dry. However, rainfall is expected over a few areas in the highlands East and West of the Rift valley and Lake basin.
In a statement, Kenya Met noted that areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley will be experiencing cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals and showers in isolated areas during the afternoon and will be partially cloudy during the night.
These counties include Nairobi, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nyandarua.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be generally dry. However, rainfall is expected over a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley,” read of the statement by Met.
The Coastal, South -eastern lowlands and Northeastern parts of Kenya will experience extreme daytime temperatures of more than 30 Celsius and an average of 22℃ during nighttime.

These counties include Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties.
In addition, the weatherman warned that strong winds will be experienced in the Coast region and North -eastern parts of the country.

“Strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast and North-eastern Kenya,” noted the weatherman.
The department also noted that counties domiciled west of the Rift valley, Lake Victoria basin, the rift valley and Northeastern regions will experience sunny intervals in the morning, showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and partial clouds during the night.
At the same time, the counties which include Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, and Uasin Gishu will experience an average of 29 ℃ maximum temperature during daytime and 11℃minimum temperature during nighttime.
Additionally, Northeastern and Southeastern regions will experience sunny intervals in the morning, afternoon and at night it is expected to be cloudy.

Also, they will experience an average of 37℃maximum temperatures and 16℃minimumu temperatures.
Counties in this region include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta.
